Ontario doctors, nurses, and other health professionals support energy conservation combined with wind and solar power – to help us move away from coal. In 2010, Ontario’s coal plants caused over 150,000 illnesses, including asthma, attacks, and over 300 deaths, according to the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE), which recently launched its largest and most effective media campaign to date. Thanks to generous financial support, anti-coal ads were placed in over thirty newspapers and magazines. All parties have committed to a coal phase-out in 2014 but CAPE and its supporters want action much sooner. Learn more on the CAPE website at www.cape.ca or go directly to CAPE's campaign against coal plants HERE. |
