Volunteering

The Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care (CCGHC) fully understands the vital role volunteers play in the Canadian health care system. Volunteers are key players in supporting patients and their families, supporting the delivery of services, raising funds and in many other ways helping to ensure the system operates smoothly for patients, clients, and visitors. We also recognise that many people work as volunteers to protect and improve the environment of their communities and surrounding regions. The Coalition provides a unique opportunity for people who care deeply about their friends and neighbours, the health care system and the environment to bring all those concerns together!

The Coalition promotes the adoption of environmentally friendly and sustainable health care service delivery to complement the compassionate delivery of care. On behalf of the Coalition I would like to invite volunteers to be part of this unique journey of greening the health care sector. We are seeking volunteers with a strong interest in the environment to help us achieve the best possible health care for all Canadians.

Established in 2001, the Coalition is a non-profit organization which has a small but dedicated staff and a strong volunteer steering committee with representatives across Canada. We are seeking volunteers who have skills to share in the administration and promotion of the Coalition. The following activities require volunteers:

  • Setting up and sending out a weekly email to the CCGHC distribution list of best practices, news articles, upcoming conferences, etc.
  • Maintaining and updating the CCGHC website
  • Providing orientation for new members and answering member questions
  • Developing and implementing initiatives to expand CCGHC membership
  • Helping to build stronger relationships with key partners

Please note the Coalition requires that volunteers have a computer with access to the Internet. Volunteers should be familiar and comfortable with the MS Office Suite, specifically MS Word, MS Outlook, Excel and Internet Explorer. We are seeking a minimum of six (6) volunteers and would prefer to have twelve (12). As the program expands we would like to increase the number of volunteer opportunities.

If you are interested and want to learn more about this opportunity please contact our Communications Director at kent@greenhealthcare.ca.
